Where the files come from

Every entry comes from a post in a public Telegram channel where repair technicians share files. The catalog currently covers 45,582 unique files from these channels:

ChambersDesignInc.com does not host, mirror or sell any file. Each “Get on Telegram” button opens the original post, so the file stays with the person who shared it and you can see their caption, date and channel.

How a file becomes a catalog entry

  1. Reading the file name and caption. A parser reads the file name and strips promotional text from the caption (join links, emoji, hashtags). Most information is in the file name, for example DELL Precision 3650 Tower IPRKL-RDT 32MB BIOS.
  2. Finding the board number. Board numbers follow the scheme of the company that designed the board: Compal LA-K034P, LCFC NM-B451, Quanta DA0XW2MBAG0, Inventec 6050A2930001, Wistron 15217-1, Apple 820-00840, MSI MS-16R81. These are what technicians search for, because the same board is often used in several laptop models.
  3. Brand, model and file type. Brand and model come from the name (with an alias list: Inspiron → Dell, ThinkPad → Lenovo …). The file type comes from the extension and keywords: .fz/.brd/.tvw are boardviews, .bin/.rom are BIOS images, PDFs are schematics.
  4. De-duplication. The same file is often reposted in several channels. Reposts are merged into one entry that lists every source and the date it was first seen.
  5. Cross-referencing. Board pages list every model that uses the board; model pages list every board that was used in the model. This many-to-many map is the main thing ChambersDesignInc.com adds on top of the channels.

Accuracy

File names are written by many different people, so parsing is not perfect. Before flashing anything, compare the board number printed on your PCB with the one in the file name, and always read and save your own chip first. If you spot a wrong board number or model link, tell us.
